The CSP plant is the symbol of Korea-Brazil economic
partnership between POSCO, Dongkuk Steel, and
VALE, the largest iron ore company in Brazil.
The total investment amounts to 5.5 billion dollars, and
as many as 10,000 construction workers were put in
every day for 4 years to build the steelworks, which
is capable of producing 3 million tons of semi-finished
steel products (slabs) a year. The plant is complete
with blast furnaces, a raw material yard, as well as
sintering, iron making (smelting furnace), steel making,
and casting plants.
